Mad Rooster is definitely one of our favorite breakfast/brunch places in Milwaukee. The Mexican twist on classic breakfast fare keeps things spicy and flavorful, and the portion sizes are great value and very generous (our orders always provide us with enough food to take home for the following day's breakfast too!).
To beat the inevitable wait, we always either arrive before 9am, make reservations for larger groups, or use the yelp waiting list. It's a very busy establishment, so service takes a little longer than usual.
Ever drawn by the call of self-proclaimed specialties, our go-to orders are the mad morning tacos, the espanola omelet, and the mad omelet. Each of these orders comes with a side of red potatoes and toast/buttermilk pancakes, and everything is delicious! -

If you're looking for a top-notch breakfast skillet.... LOOK no further! The Jalapeno skillet is the bomb diggity!
Mad Rooster may be one of the busiest places in Milwaukee on a weekend morning - so be prepared to wait, or get on the waiting list via the Yelp app. If they have a long wait - pop on over to Target to get some quick shopping in.
The service is always quick and attentive. They are always slammed - but never make you feel like you need to be in a rush.

Ugh.
I came here for a family breakfast. It's delicious, they said. Highly rated, they said.
It might be highly rated, but I have no idea why. The service was really lagging - our waiter would vanish for extended periods of time. Nothing like seeing tables in other sections who arrived after you get their food before you.
Want your waiter to call you racist for choosing white toast? Love bland, average, overpriced food? Then this is the place for you!
Skip it - there are so many other places who are cooking fresh, delicious, flavorful meals, and they won't insult you. -

If you get here by 9am then you're highly likely to be seated right away. They have gluten free options for our friends with allergies. There are large skillets that are basically 3 meal when you get down to it. All of it is delicious of course. They also offer seasonal selections that are fall inspired which I thought was a nice idea. Breakfast and lunch is their specialty jam and they do it really well:)

I've eaten here several times over the last several years. Always a safe spot to get a quality breakfast in a vibrant atmosphere. Food is always pretty good, though it usually falls just short of being 5 star impressive.
Staff here is awesome. Tons of personality, extremely fast service.
Rooster decor is lively and in your face. A nice touch.
Menu has a Mexican flare in addition to the classics.
This last visit, I had the chicken & waffles with chicken chorizo gravy. It was served with 2 ramekins of butter and a large ramekin on gravy. Chicken was a breaded and fried breast. Pretty juicy and of decent portion. Standard waffle. Gravy was pretty good. 4/5. Was $11.50.
All in all a great stop and a Milwaukee classic.
